Coastrek is not a race, it’s a challenge. On Event Day, you’ll walk at your team’s pace, enjoy the views, grab a coffee, have a laugh with your friends and HAVE FUN! However, Coastrek is not a walk in the park so don’t underestimate the physical and mental challenge of hiking between 20km and 60km in one day!
When you sign up for Coastrek, we give you a tried and tested 12-week Training Program designed to get you perfectly prepared for Event Day, as well as access to our event-specific Facebook groups where you will be supported every step of the way.
For the 60km Event:
Walking 60km is a seriously impressive challenge – don’t underestimate it! For most people who exercise regularly, 12 weeks is the ideal time to get physically and mentally prepared for a 60km endurance trek, provided you follow our Training Program.
Our workouts will take you from 12km through to your 60km challenge, so if you can walk 12km (in approx. 3 hours at a moderate pace) now and follow our program, you’ll be ready for your Coastrek challenge.
For the 45km Event (NSW, QLD and VIC only):
For most people who are in good health, 12 weeks is enough time to get physically and mentally prepared for a 45km endurance hike, provided you follow our Training Program.
Our workouts will take you from 9km through to your 45km challenge, so if you can walk 9km (in approx. 2 hours 25 mins at a moderate pace) now and follow our program, you’ll be ready for your Coastrek challenge.
For the 30km Event:
For most people who are in good health, 8-12 weeks is enough time to get physically and mentally prepared for a 30km endurance hike, provided you follow our Training Program.
Our workouts will take you from 6km through to your 30km challenge, so if you can walk 6km (in approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes at a moderate pace) now and follow our program, you’ll be ready for your Coastrek challenge.
For the 20km Event:
For most people who are in good health, 8-12 weeks is plenty of time to get physically and mentally prepared for a 20km endurance hike, provided you follow our Training Program.
Our workouts will take you from 6km through to your 20km challenge, so if you can walk 6km (in approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes at a moderate pace) now and follow our program, you’ll be ready for your Coastrek challenge.
Note: For the 20km, 30km and 45km events, registration remains open until 6 weeks before Event Day (unless sold out prior), so if you register late, you will have less time to prepare.
Note: Endurance fitness is different for everyone, and can depend on age, weight, prior exercise habits, general health and many other factors. Please consult your doctor before commencing this program if you’re new to hiking or if you have any health issues.
