Coastrek is not a race, it’s a challenge. On Event Day, you’ll walk together at your team’s pace, enjoy the views, grab a coffee, take lots of selfies, have a laugh with your friends and have fabulous FUN!
However, Coastrek is not a walk in the park. Depending on your base fitness level, you’ll need to train regularly and consistently for 6 – 12 weeks, which for many Coastrekkers is the best part of the Coastrek journey.
And of course, we all know, the more you prepare the more fun you’ll have on event day.
When you sign up for Coastrek, we give you an awesome Coastrek 12-week Training Program designed by the experts at Wild Women On Top to get you perfectly prepared for Event Day, as well as access to our event-specific Coastrek Facebook groups where you will be supported every step of the way.
For the 50km Events:
Walking 50km is a seriously impressive challenge – don’t underestimate it! For most people who exercise regularly, 12 weeks is the ideal time to get physically and mentally prepared for a 50km endurance trek, provided you follow our Training Program.
Our workouts will take you from 10km through to your 50km challenge, so if you can walk 12km (in approx. 3 hours at a moderate pace) now and follow our program, you’ll be ready for your Coastrek challenge. If not, you’ll need a little extra prep.
For the 30km & 35km Events:
For most people who are in good health, 8-12 weeks is enough time to get physically and mentally prepared for a 30/35km endurance hike, provided you follow our Training Program.
Our workouts will take you from 6km through to your 30/35km challenge, so if you can walk 6km (in approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes at a moderate pace) now and follow our program, you’ll be ready for your Coastrek challenge.
For the 20km Events:
For most people who are in good health, 8-12 weeks is plenty of time to get physically and mentally prepared for a 20km endurance hike, provided you follow our Training Program.
Our workouts will take you from 6km through to your 20km challenge, so if you can walk 6km (in approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes at a moderate pace) now and follow our program, you’ll be ready for your Coastrek challenge.
Note: Endurance fitness is different for everyone, and can depend on age, weight, prior exercise habits, general health and many other factors. Please consult your doctor before commencing this program if you’re new to hiking or if you have any health issues.
