Mobile phone: Please make sure you bring a mobile phone so we can contact you in case of an emergency. You can also use maps.me on the day to have the most up-to-date info regarding the trail if any trekkers ask!
Comfortable clothing: Wear something you feel comfortable in! We also encourage our Volunteers to dress up in something fun if they want to. Just wear closed-in shoes and keep in mind that it can get very cold in the morning /evening, and it could also get wet! We recommend that you are prepared for all types of wild weather, including sun protection & wet weather gear. We will provide all Volunteers with hi-vis vests on the day and as a valued Volunteer you will also be provided with a Coastrek buff and gift from the Heart Foundation.
Drink bottle and any additional food: Coastrek will provide you with a snack during your shift and with lunch or a meal voucher if your shift is scheduled for 4+ hours. You are more than welcome to bring your own food if you want something more substantial or if you have any strict dietary requirements. Please bring your own drink bottle and/or reusable cup to stay hydrated throughout the day! Coastrek aims to be a disposable cup-free event
A book: There are naturally some quiet moments during shifts so you are welcome to bring along a book or something to keep yourself entertained during any downtime.
Enthusiasm! Please bring an enthusiastic, outgoing, friendly, and positive attitude! Coastrek is known for its energy, sparkle and WOOHOO, and as a Volunteer you’ll get to play an essential role in the Coastrek event experience for trekkers, and their families and supporters – and for the Heart Foundation!
