We always put the coast in Coastrek and this route doesn’t disappoint– golden sandy beaches, breathtaking ocean views and natural landscapes are in, busy roads and concrete jungles are out! You’ll hike along iconic Noosa, Sunshine and Coolum beaches, around stunning Point Arkwright headland and through the lush greenery of Twin Waters with expansive ocean views to enjoy throughout your journey.
Choose to hike 50km from Noosa, 30km from Peregian or 20km from Marcoola, crossing the finish line on Mooloolaba Beach and experience the picture-perfect scenery of the Sunshine Coast. The longer you hike, the more you’ll see!
50km Route
Starting from Noosa Woods, our fearless 50km trekkers begin their adventure at sunrise with a beautiful flat stroll through the Noosa Spit Recreation Reserve. The journey continues as you hit 1.2km of stunning, sun-soaked sand along Noosa Main Beach. After soaking up the views, wind through the streets of Noosa for the next 4km to reach Sunshine Beach. Here, you’ll enjoy a 1.7km stretch of sand before exiting at Sunrise Beach to connect with the Coastal Pathway.
Passing through Castaways Beach, you’ll traverse the leafy boardwalk and trails before rejoining the beach for a glorious 4.2km sandy walk to Peregian, your first Luv Stop, ready to refresh and recharge!
As 50km trekkers, only you get to experience this morning’s hike between Noosa and Peregian Beach, seeing this special part of the coast in all its glory – well done!
From Peregian Beach, set off on a 5.5km sand trek through to Coolum Surf Club. We’ll keep an eye on Stumers Creek conditions, but we recommend packing some plastic shopping bags – they make excellent temporary protection to keep your feet dry, and also pack a spare pair of socks, just in case you get your shoesies wet!
As you continue, the scenic Coolum Coastal Boardwalk and Foreshore Trail will guide you to Point Arkwright, one of the Sunshine Coast's most spectacular headlands. Take in the panoramic views before hopping back onto the firm-packed sand at Yaroomba for a 2.1km stretch before rejoining the Coastal Pathway boardwalk for another 2.1kms to the Marcoola Luv Stop.
Have a snack, shake out your shoes, and get ready for the next leg of your adventure!
From Marcoola Beach, head off on a 3.3km sand walk to Mudjimba, before wandering through the lush greenery of Twin Waters. Cross the Maroochy River to join the Bradman Avenue Foreshore Trail, leading you to the Ken Neil Bridge.
From there, follow the path over the bridge towards Maroochydore, and take a well-deserved break at the Maroochydore Luv Stop. The final stretch meanders along the Coastal Pathway through Cotton Tree and Alexandra Headland, with a few more sand sections at Maroochydore Beach and Mooloolaba Beach. Step off the sand for the last time as you finish triumphantly at Pirate Ship Park, Mooloolaba. You did it!
