Our route offers you the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the stunning Sunny coast. You can't get any closer to the coast than this! The route features a significant amount of sand, but fear not, this sand is (mostly) very hard packed and easy to walk on. You'll have the chance to walk off the beach at various sections along the route, ensuring an engaging mix of pavement and trail, taking you through charming towns and picturesque parks.
We recommend you:
- Bring Spare Socks: There may be at least one water crossing where you might need to take off your shoes. Having spare socks on hand can be a real lifesaver.
- Keep Training on Sandy Trails: Continue training on sandy trails to familiarise yourself with the terrain and build endurance.
- Wear Ankle Gaiters: Ankle gaiters will help keep sand out of your shoes and ensure your comfort throughout the trek.
Starting from Mooloolaba, our fearless 50km trekkers will begin their challenge with 1.3km on glorious sunny coast sand. The route will take you up towards Maroochydore, over the Maroochy River and through the tranquil waterways & lush greenery of Twin Waters. You'll be grateful for your soft sand training! We highly recommend ankle gaiters and sand resistant shoes to keep out sand and debris. And don't forget to make a stop at the Mudjimba Luv Stop to recharge.
30km Event (50km route, keep reading…)
The 30km route starts at Mudjimba Beach. You’ll start your trek with a nice long stretch of sand, before we shuffle you onto the Coastal Pathway at Marcoola. After 1km on the boardwalk, it’s time to get back on that sand to Point Arkwright and around the Heads through Yarooma Coolum Foreshore reserve.
Have a snack and shake out your shoes at Coolum Luv stop before charging on.
20km Event (50km and 30km route, keep reading…)
The 20km journey kicks off at Coolum Beach. From Coolum to Sunshine Beach, most of the terrain is sand, with a little 3km of footpath. We will monitor the level of Stumers Creek before event day, we still recommend bringing a spare set of socks, in case you get your shoesies wet. When you come off the sand at Sunshine Beach, you will be relieved to hear that you are done with sand for today! Enjoy the last 4km on footpaths and boardwalks. Wind your way through Noosa to the Main Beach, taking in the magnificent views of this much-loved tourist destination. A short bush walk to Noosa Woods and you did it!
But what about the sand, how much sand?!
50km event – approx. 21km of sand walking
30km event – approx. 17km of sand walking
20km event – approx. 12km of sand walking.
