From Parsons beach to Port Elliott Beach, you’ll experience this coastal paradise made famous for its dramatic and distinctive coastline.
The 35km route begins with a single-file rocky trail, so be careful of those loose pebbles underfoot and go slow. You’ll then descend onto a soft sand beach – Waitpinga Beach (approx. 1.5km) with a potential wet shoe zone! Use plastic bags, take your shoes off, or dance on through! The next 15km follows narrow undulating bush trails with spectacular views from the infamous Heysen Trail!
There is very limited access points for the first third of the event route. Your support crew can only meet you at the following points: Waitpinga Campground, the carpark at the end of Kings Beach and Rosetta Head carpark.
Enjoy panoramic views of Encounter Bay from the top of Rosetta Head before continuing towards Victor Harbor. Take the narrow causeway across to Granite Island. Granite Island is the Fleurieu’s most recognised ecological attractions due to its unusual granite formations. Watch the crashing white waves, look out for the native flora and fauna, and take in the outstanding panoramic coastal views.
As you continue your journey along the Fleurieu, you will explore the small villages nestled in the folds of the hills and historic townships which hug its beautiful shores.
There are very few water and toilet stops along the this entire section. You must refill your water bladder EVERY TIME you see a water refill station (at the Luv Stop), even if you think you have plenty left. During training, these water points will not be available, so ensure you take extra water with you when training on the route.
Please note: All Coastrek routes are subject to change. We attempt, at all times, to adhere to the advised route. As we are immersed in nature, however, there may sometimes be circumstances beyond our control (tides, fallen trees/branches, other safety aspects as advised by local councils) that require us to slightly alter the route. In any such cases these will be clearly marked and identified on event day.
